If you

Radiation
Drug Technique in Development for Osteosarcoma
"The
results of this
study could change the standard of care for bone cancer patients -
humans and dogs," said Dr. Nicole Ehrhart, a veterinarian and cancer
expert at Colorado State. "While most osteosarcoma patients don't
receive radiation treatment, we believe that, when delivered with this
method that allows doctors to isolate the dose to the tumor, radiation
treatment is very effective. In dogs, we know that using radiation in
combination with chemotherapy increases our success over just one or
the other treatments used alone."

There
are
a great many web sites that offer information about canine cancer
diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. Some are hosted by
caretakers, sharing the story of their dog's fight against cancer.
Some are provided by manufacturers or distributors of various products
that claim to fight cancer. And others are provided by academic
institutions or veterinary organizations under the supervision of
veterinary experts. The web sites
below are just a sampling of
reliable sources of information on this subject.

by Lisa Bruiniers
Dear
Laurie,
I
want to thank you so very much for your book, "Help Your Dog Fight
Cancer." I thank you also on behalf of Nikita, my sweet Husky mix, who
lost her battle with hemangiosarcoma on December 13, 2006. Nikita was
10 years old, but will live in the hearts of those who knew her forever.
The
best work is done in the name of a loved one
and your book is the perfect example. Thus, it is appropriate that Nikita
and I thank Bullet, as well.
I
initially began reading your book as a skeptic. It
was loaned to me by Nikita's oncologist, Dr. Atwater. I had seen and
read so much information on canine cancer that I assumed your book would
only corroborate what I already knew.
I had decided to go ahead with surgery and
chemotherapy, and see a homeopathic vet.
I was now in need of something more. Your book provided
that "Something more."
"Help
Your Dog Fight Cancer" was the most honest account of what I
was to face of any source I found. We
began cooking "Bullet's Cancer Diet" and giving Nikita supplements
suggested in your book. While I
could not save sweet Nikita's life, I am now confident your book made it
as good as it could have been, given the circumstances.
Your
book has a "human
element" that is priceless. It offers things
that only one who has
experienced the ordeal could portray. It
was a vital lifeline
for me and for Nikita.
Thank
you for sharing so that Nikita
could have a better, stronger caretaker. Thank
you for empowering me to help Nikita maintain the grace and light
she possessed in her healthy days, until the very end.
My
copy of "Help
Your Dog Fight Cancer"
is now at the home of Laya, fighting
cancer with her mom, Sarah Lamborn.
I've also sent copies of your book to
all of my vets (Lafayette Animal Hospital in Lafayette,
CA; Encina Vet Hospital in Walnut Creek, CA; and Dr. Smith of Rainbow
Bridge Vet Services), so that others facing the same life-changing
tragedy might be able to find some solace in your words,
as
I have.
A profound "Thank you!" to both you and Bullet, who undoubtedly
continues to care for Nikita at the Rainbow Bridge.

With
Gratitude,
The
Bruiniers Family
